How did you break up with your exes, and why? And have you spoken to them since?

How did your families/friends react?

My last gf used to beat me up. So, one day I said 'I think this would work better if we were just mates'

And that was the end of that.

The most devestating break up of my life was with my first love.
We were together for 5 years from the age of 16.
I cried so much my parents cried with me! My heart literally broke in half.
I pretty much crumbled when it was over, and spiralled into a 2 year meltdown but looking back I'm strangely grateful it happenened.
It forced us both to grow up and sort our issues out once and for all.
I met up with him once and he was still as beautful as ever, but I left after an hour or so as it was too intense and my feelings are still raw even after all this time.
I don't speak to him at all now but mutual friends tell me he's doing ok and he's in another long term relationship.

boyfriend unceremoniously dumped me 4 weeks ago... i fucking died inside.... then he realised his mistake...
