The WAITING BY THE PHONE thread

I think we can use this as a place to go to vent whenever we're stuck waiting by the telephone for 'that someone' to call.

Trying to come up with distractions is ridiculously hard. Everything I do just seems to remind me that I'm home alone tonight and that he's not going to call me to come out.

"I'll give you a call around six....thirty," he said last night. ....it's almost 7:40... we shall see if he calls at all, but right now I'm thinking that we won't hang out ever again. It's really awkward that he lives two blocks away from me because if I run into him tomorrow, for example, and he didn't call me tonight, it will be really awkward for both of us.

What do you do to try and distract yourself while you're waiting for someone to call? I actually think it is one of the worst feelings and it seems that I'm always in that position.

i usually pretend to busy myself with grownup things like laundry or going to buy useful things that i'll never use like clothes pegs to stave off the urge to check the time or internet stalk

I used to date this asshole who used to yell at me for calling his phone all the time and he'd call me at like 5 o'clock in the morning before he'd go to work and then at like 3 o'clock in the afternoon when he got out and I was IN work.

It was a mess.

i never wait by the phone for people. its usually not hard to find other things to do. if someone wants to call me, they'll call. and if they dont it doesnt stop the world from spinning.
