| | | 23 too old for clubbing? Has anyone else completely stopped going to clubs?
The thought of going now just doesn't appeal to me as I no longer get the same enjoyment out of it as I used to a few years ago.
I just go to pubs and gigs now as I can't bear the thought of how much of a meat market clubs are.
I mean the main reason people to go to clubs is to pick someone up so it's unlikely you're going to meet anyone that meaningful.
Maybe I'm being unreasonable and should just go for a laugh with my friends but I really feel like I'm over the whole boozing it up/dancing and pulling phase of my life even though I'm still really young.
Do others feel the same or do you still cane it and go out as much as you did a few years ago? |

| | | When you're underage they seemed exciting but utterly dull by the time you get to 20, I went clubbing twice this year (I'm nearly 23), the music pretty bad most of the time and I'm not looking to pull, which I'm really glad of, cause most boys round here fug and act like idiots.
Going to the pub and watch a live band in the corner is better. |

| | | In a way I sort of understand what you mean. I don't go out nearly as much as I used to because it just doesn't interest me all that much anymore and i'm 23, i feel I've sort of been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. I mean, i do go out but I rarely do an all nighter anymore and i'm not interested in pulling either. I don't think it's a case of being too old as such, just a case that maybe you're growing up and want different things out of life.
Having said that I know someone who is 42 and still goes clubbing loads but she's great, she DJs sometimes too and doesn't look her age at all. I thought she was about 25 when i first met her. |

| | | For me, it waxes & wanes. The cultural assumption is you will grow out of it, so I mistook the first couple of wanes for this, then after some time away I got back into it. I think you're more likely to get bored if you're going to the same places and seeing the same people - try somewhere new or just take some time off and let the social circles revolve a bit.
Completely disagree about the 'main reason' people go to clubs being to pull - 23 is too old for meat markets and if that's the places you're ending up you'd be better off looking for more specialised nights where you're likely to find the music is the shared interest.
People vary so much with how they take to nighlife that generalisations based on age are pretty much useless.

| | | well Im 27. I dont go clubbing much these days because it bores me to tears and I hate being around the young people too cuz it makes me feel older and me realising that Im old. also its really bad when you are being chatted up by a guy and when you tell them your age they walk away! haha!
but no 23 is not too old for clubbing. I would like a new club made for 25-30s only....gets the kids and the old folk away ?

| | | I'm 30 and I love clubbing. so no, 23 isn't too old, by any stretch.
I think so long as there's somebody there that's older than you it's cool.

| | | For me it never had any appeal. But thats because I always worked in them, so I got to see how stupid people act when they are drunk and didn't want to be that person.
I'm 23, but it isn't too old to be going to a club. I can't now because I have a 6 month old and no baby sitter that I trust. |

| | | Gosh, 23 is no age. I'm 30 and feel waaaay to old to club. Sad thing is, I always hated clubbing from the age of 15. I've never been to a meat market in my life.
The whole, dancing, fucking in toilets, chatting up, thing is sooo not me. I want, and always had, long term relationships - and feel used when a girl fucks me for one night and never calls. I hate that. So basically I prefer Internet dating.
This way, we talk on line and have a meeting of minds and I can instantly filter out the one night stands by the girls who want my number to chat on the phone in the first contact. Or the girls who meet up instantly and just fall into bed with. I tend to avoid such girls.
Now my current BG girl we have chatted for two months on line - and she knows everything about me and remains with me because of many, many reasons she has given me. She knows I used to be a heroin addict, she knows I've been anally raped by a woman in the past, which I enjoyed, but nevertheless raped. She knows I talk with the other side, and am spiritual, and she knows I am a computer geek which bores the shit out of her but in spite of all this she just totally adores me. Now, any girl that knows me, like she does, and does not run a mile is worth making a go with in my eyes.

| | | why does clubbing need to mean hooking up with randoms?
I like going dancing all night. end of. I'm married, don't do drugs, am monogamous and rarely drink (unless it's free).
pure clubbing. the rest is just stupid.

| | | im just not interested. i dont think its age. there are a few friends who do like it/ very few, but there are some. i think its just that now im earning my own money and paying for everything in my life, going out to a nice meal and then maybe a few drinks seems like a better, more enjoyable way to spend my money.

I do MDMA once in a while now, but that means about once a year not every weekend.
