Yaz Birth Control Pill

Hi-

Not sure if this the correct forum to post this in...but I was recently perscribed the Yaz birth control pill by my doctor b/c i was told you don't gain weight on it. However upoin doing some research online, I found a pretty big dissatisfaction rate on it.

Is anyone currently taking this pill now? And if so, do you like it?

Feedback would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I took Yasmin for 3 months, it was alright, no mood swings or weight gain but I had breakthrough bleeding in the last week of every packet and it made my boobs sore as HELL. Try Marvelon- in trials it was exactly the same as Yasmin in terms of people gaining or losing weight (so much so that the results of that trial forced the makers of Yasmin to withdraw the advertising claim that it was the pill you would lose weight on) and it has much higher satisfaction ratings.

I have been taking yasmin for the past year and I couldn't fault it at all! It's a vast improvement on Microgynon which gave me massive mood swings, thrush and really bad bladder infections. The first month I started yasmin I was a little tearful at times but there again I hadn't taken any kind of hormonal contraception in a while so it was to be expected. I did gain some weight but I have lost most of it again now.

Using a coathanger as contraception would frankly be an improvement on microgynon. I swear its the worst pill in the world.

microgynon seems to be the only one that i dont have problems with..
the nhs dont like presecribing people yasmin.. it costs the most and they are tight bastards
microgynon is the cheapest which is why they give it to everyone..
i hate the nhs..

Just to clarify...I meant Yaz, not Yasmin...is there a big difference between the 2? The ones who commented, it was Yasmin you took/take right, not Yaz?

I was on Yaz for almost a year and I loved it.
I didn't gain weight, my skin cleared up, and I had short, predictable periods with almost no cramping.
It's different for everyone. Give it a shot

Yaz is made by the same company that Yasmin is made, but it is a different pill.. different hormone amounts, etc. Yasmin for me, was probably the worst pill you could ever put me on.. super moody, bled heavily for weeks when I was not supposed to be bleeding.. I thought I was dying. My doctor told me she wanted to put me on Yaz but I'm wary of the pill right now after trying out 6 different ones and not having success with any. Apparently Mirena, the plastic hormonal IUD, has a better working success rate (99.90-.95%) than tubal ligation (99.5%).. I'm gonna look into that one.

I've always been ok with condoms really, but my boyfriend hates them & wanted me to go on the pill. A lot of my friends are on so I figured I would give it a try. Haven't started it yet b/c I need to start it once I get my period for the month so it can be a full cycle.

probably bath and body.

because like... the pill doesn't necessarily have to do with love & relationships. you could have acne or something.

UNLESS it's like "my bf won't let me take yaz cause he wants a baby even though he won't tell me about his job." then (sigh) it goes in here.
