I personally would tell them straight. what other ways do you tell people that you are not interested in them?

It depends on the situation - i.e. who the person is, whether you've given them any reason to think you're into them or if they're just nuts, whether you want to stay friends or not...

If their feelings aren't important to you, telling them straight is probably the best bet.

When annoying, sad, pushy etc....guys ask me out I just tell them I have bf, even if I don't.
It makes it easier.

I tend to make excuses
and they never get the hint
I feel nasty if I tell them straight
So I create an embarrasing situation instead
I'm a bit stupid like that

I think you should tell them straight, it's the fair thing to do. Leading somebody on and then letting them down is worse.

If you're polite and civil about you're not being harsh.
