| | | Debate: should mothers have more rights over their kids than fathers ?? Hey, didn't know where to put this so i apologise if it is in the wrong place.
Anyways do you think mothers should have more rights over their children than the father especially where both these parents are not married. Whats your opinion and why? |

| | | It depends of the circumstance. If it was a custody battle I would hope that these days the better parent would be given custody. For example, my gf is an ex-junkie. If she had ever had a kid in those years I would hope that she wouldn't have retained custody under those circumstances.
As for rights including desicions about the kids future- if the parents are still together and happy then they should be equal. |

| | | I think if the parents are in a healthy relationship regardless of being married or not, they should have equal rights towards the child and work together to create a healthy loving enviroment for him/her. |

| | | I think as long as both parents are contributing to the child's upbringing and both a major factor in its life, then they should have to agree on decisions involving the child's health/education etc.

| | | nope. takes two people to make a baby.
yeah it sucks that we have to carry the kids, crap it out etc but we wouldnt have the joy of doing that without a guy to knock us up.
but then again its really a pretty gray area because im sure there could be plenty of situations where there was extenuating circumstances. |

| | | the mother is always more attached to the baby for the simple fact that she had the baby inside her for 9 months, then breast feeded the baby for who knows how much time, in short the baby NEEDS the mother more than he or she needs the father, for mere survival, the father can't breastfeed, and even if the father is really involved the mother-son bond is always going to be deeper and people realize this and it's taken into consideration in family court etc.
But there are exceptions, some mothers are cunts from hell and the children are best with the father. |

| | | If the child is unborn the Mother has more rights in terms of carrying to term. Otherwise it's purely situational depending upon many variables including psychological stability, drug use, ability to care for the child emotionally and financially, etc.
