what sort of stance should you take with the best friend?

like, I'm always a bit er on this. cause like, they have known your partner for like 10 years compared to your 6 months (or whatever), i feel it's a bit off to totally encourage bitching against them.

but imagine your boyfriend/girlfriend is having a bitch about there best friend, what do you think is right? going, "er she's being a complete bitch, tell her to fuck off." or "yeah, she's being unreasonable but she's got her own problem/ she's just looking out for you..." type thing?

i don't really know the bestfriend so it matters fuck all to me, but I'm not sure. maybe the best thing is judge each situation on it's own merits. dunno.

ShyViolet has disabled reputation
If my bf is having problems with a friend, I briefly give my honest opinion and then I shut up about it and let him handle it his way. I know it would probably annoy him or piss him off if I'm too pushy with my advice or if I try to interfere in something that's not really my business. I just let him know what I would do if I was in the situation, and then drop it.

if you just keep answering every question with a question, they'll either figure it out themselves, or get annoyed and not talk about their problems with that person to you anymore

girls quite often bitch about their friends.
personally i think it's childish and not to be encouraged.

however if it's founded on something pretty reasonable, then you should support your girlfriend but get her to sort it out, so the second one, where you admit that the girlfriend is right but get her to be an adult and fix the friendship.
