Being 'too nice'?

I've been accused of this a few times, at work and by a close friend who I have a big crush on. In fact he told another friend that this is the reason why he wouldn't go out with me.

I don't get this.

I think being nice is a good thing. I think if you're friends with someone, you'd expect them to be nice to you?

I'm not the sort of nice where I get walked over. I was when I was a teenager but I'm quite old now. I don't do things I don't want to do, I don't help others at the expense of myself etc. I understand why that kind of nice is a bad thing. I'm also not the clingy sort of nice.

otherwise... what's the problem with it?

And why is it that nice guys don't want nice girls?

I don't want to stop being nice to people, that would be stupid.

There is a point where niceness can be seen as being....not human?i don't know. I get your point though. Being nice all the time can be a bit unbearable

well, I'm not nice to people who don't deserve it. and I'm not one of those bree van de kamp style perfectly happy people.

If someone pisses me off, I let them know, but just maybe not in a bitchy way. I'm very rational.

gah.
