Mercury Rev unveil their first Best Of

The package features a rarities CD

American indie rockers Mercury Rev are to release their first Best Of compilation in the autumn.

'The Essential Mercury Rev - Stillness Breathes (1991-2006)' is released on October 2 as a 2CD set. CD1 contains many of the band's best known tracks, including the hit singles 'The Dark Is Rising', 'Goddess On A Hiway' and 'Opus 40'.

CD2 will feature session tracks, rarities and a host of cover versions -among them tracks originally made famous by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and David Bowie.

The full tracklisting is:
