Beck reveals all about new album

Beck reveals all about new album

And he'll have some special guests at V Festival

Beck's new album will be titled 'The Information' and is out on October 2, NME.COM can exclusively reveal.

The record, the follow-up to 2005's 'Guero', was produced by Nigel Godrich. The man most famous for his production efforts with Radiohead also worked with Beck on his 2002 acoustic album 'Sea Change', though 'The Information' will not be a stripped-down record.

The album will come with a blank sleeve and booklet and a sheet of stickers for people to make their own sleeve. It will also come with a disc of videos - one for each track.

Beck returns to the UK to play the V Festival over the weekend of August 19-20, performing before Radiohead on the Main Stage. He will be joined onstage by a group of puppets for his entire set.

the video idea is cool. i dont like the sticker cover though. i dont want to make my own cover and i'll probably be really anal about it and keep it blank.

the title sounds like scientology.

He's due to re-invent himself around now, isn't he?
I like the idea of having a video for each song. I went through a phase of opposing music videos because I felt visual art should be seperate from musical art. I know that you can combine the two, but I guess what bothered me was that only certain songs are selected for promotion, which can be misleading. I don't suppose Beck will be releasing all these videos though...
The sticker idea is cute. I'm so obsessive I'd probably want to buy two albums and an extra set of stickers. One set of stickers to decorate my notebooks with, one set of stickers to decorate the album sleve with, and one album to have in it's original untampered condition.
I'm not that into Beck, though, so I probably wont buy the album. Looking forward to it nonetheless.

That cover idea is great. I loved it when Do Make Say Think did it with their album. you could change the cover to different slides.

I love it. And I love Guero. Will I love this? Only time...

Beck has been hella prolific lately. I love it.

I feel the need to throw on Guero now.

when has Beck's music really emitted emotion beyond Sea Change and Mutations? When I think of Beck's music, I mostly think of funky beats and silly rhymes.

I never thought of it as emotionless or safe. I mean, it's not Bright Eyes (thank God) so it's not emotional?

I wouldn't say any music is totally emotionless, I just honestly don't go to Beck for lyrical depth. Some musicians are more interested in the production of their music ie. Beck.

The Information about Scientology? I hope it is an uber-didactic preachfest, where he lays bare his love for L-Ron.

there are two songs streaming on his website. the second one, "strange apparitions" actually gives me hope. i think he may actually be getting the plot back.
