My Chemical Car Crash Two MCR members injured in crash; band forced to cancel appearance at San Diego Street Scene Festival.
Members of
My Chemical Romance were injured in a car accident last Thursday (August 3rd), forcing the band to cancel a scheduled appearance at the Street Scene Festival in San Diego on Saturday. According to a spokesperson for the band, MCR traveled to San Diego despite the accident, but were forced to pull out at the last minute when lead singer Gerard Way and drummer Bob Bryar's injuries "proved too painful to play."
Details about the accident remain sketchy, but sources at Street Scene told AOL Music that Bob Bryar was the most injured, possibly suffering from third degree burns. And Gigwise.com is reporting that Gerard Way suffered a broken ankle.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs moved from their original, earlier slot on Street Scene's main stage to fill MCR's headlining slot of the festival's second stage.
No word yet on whether any other band members were involved in the crash, or where exactly the accident took place.
My Chemical Romance's next album, the followup to the platinum-selling
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, is scheduled to be released on October 24. It's being produced by Rob Cavallo, who also did
Green Day's American Idiot.
