Yes I do have a question about his albums, but I don't want the download thread to assimilate every individual artist thread. There is still a need for them! It must not kill conversation...

One of my friends lent me Daisies of the Galaxy a few months ago and I loved it. I love all the little stories he tells: Grace Kelly Blues and Packing Blankets are really really great songs. I've played it to everyone I've met since; I like to spread the love, extend the network of fans of a particular artist or album. It's really quite mainstream-sounding in the fact that it's really tuneful, so I'm surprised I haven't heard his music before. Well, I'd heard the name but never really looked into him. An annoying boy at school is nicknamed (against his will, as is the case with most nicknames) Bird, so my friend Joe & I like to sit in the common room with a guitar, singing I Like Birds. Ah, so much fun.

Since I like this album so much, I had been wondering where to go from here. I saw that there was a new live album out, but I wouldn't generally start with a live album. I'd appreciate it if any fans would be able to advise me which direction to take next and to tell me about his other albums.

Daisies is really great stuff. There was a thread I had going last week that got wiped out. I like everything I have heard. There is a Lollapalooza date scheduled. Beautiful Freak might be the next one to get. It had a small hit called Novacaine For the Soul. Electroshock Blues is amazing but brutal as he deals with his mother's cancer and death. Shootenanny is really good too. I agree a live album probably isn't the next step.
