| | Female Fronted Metal Bands Everyone knows of my love for The Gathering (Anneke Van Giersbergen is a Goddess!) but i've found that metal music with a female voice fronting the band is a perfect thing. That added touch of femininity to the masculinity of the music...
Perfect female fronted metal bands: Lacuna Coil - Cristina Scabbia Nightwish - Tarja Tarunen Leaves' Eyes/Theatre of Tragedy - Liv Kristine The Gathering - Anneke Van Giersbergen
anyone got any thoughts? |

anyone got any thoughts? | That's fucking cool, Anne van Giersbergen comes from a village in Holland. Yay, bless the Dutch!
Anyway, I can't think of anymore bands, sorry. Metal is not my thing. |

| | | All those bands are metal in the same way that HIM is "metal." Theatre of Tragedy sounds cool though.
Too many of those dime-a-dozen gothy metal bands with female vocals have a guy singing too, who is INVARIABLY terrible. Christina Scabbia is hardly a fantastic singer, but she has the voice of a goddess compared to that utterly HORRIBLE guy singing in the band.
Arch Enemy is amazing. Angela Gossow is the real deal. |

Angela Gossow is the real deal. | im biased towards The Gathering cos they r my favourite group of all time... 17 years together and the style of music has changed gradually over the period of time... starting from HARD gothic metal with just a male voice, to the HARD gothic metal with a male and female vocalist to the more meldodic ambient rock they've done with Anneke since Mandylion. Anneke is the real deal. I like Lacuna Coil... bar Andrea Ferro who is nauseating... Liv Kristine of Leaves Eyes' & Theatre of Tragedy is awesome too... |

| | | wicked wisdom are not metal, they just suck. evanescence isn't bad but not metal either. no one list kittie either.
i didn't think novembers doom and penance were female-fronted, i thought they just employed female vocals from time to time?
i'm not a big fan of the "gothic" beauty and the beast type of bands. i really don't care for them at all, actually. i went through a phase where i kinda liked lacuna coil and leaves' eyes, but now they just don't appeal to me as much anymore. i spent a long time trying to deny that i didn't like Nightwish, but their vocal lines and melodies are too catchy. ugh. i can't believe i just publically admitted that too.
3rd and the mortal wasn't bad with Kari on vocals. out of that list, i'm a big fan of Sinergy; Kim's vocals and Alexi and Roope's guitars are amazing. i have all their albums, including the ones with bonus tracks. they're kind of like Warlock but much better.
i saw arch enemy live too. they're very impressive, have nearly all their albums. i don't know why they dump all kinds of vocal effects on Angela's voice when she can perform just fine without them.
Left Hand Solution's really good, i'm trying to pick up one of their albums. Enter Chaos and Immemorial aren't too bad either. and Peccatum is good regardless of the genre, they create amazing music. |

| | I loved the band Scratching Post. They were a metal pop band who were pretty hot in the Canadian indie scene in the late 90's. It's metal with hooks that get stuck in your head all day. This was my favourite song from their last cd for those of you who don't know them. They're now called MINX. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.ph...88DA521302DE68 |

| | i liked Kittie's first album, but their two more recent ones suck barring What I Always Wanted and In Winter. they've become just another numetal band. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
