Audioslave to split? / Chris Cornell to record Bond theme song

Hits Daily Double (web site), the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, reports: "AUDIOSLAVE's third album, the Brendan O'Brien-produced 'Revelations', is slated for a Sept. 5 release, but insiders are saying this will be the band's last, with Chris Cornell splitting for a solo career. A previous summer tour has already been canceled. 'Original Fire', the first single from the album, was released two weeks ago to Most Added status at Rock and Alternative radio. Word is the three remaining members nixed a seven-figure offer from promoters to reunite as RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE with ex-lead singer Zack de la Rocha amid rumors of bad blood."

i really hope they split up so Cornell can make another solo album. Those RATM's losers are holding him back.

i've never been a fan of either soundgarden or rage.

i remember seeing rage at lollapalooza in 93 and zack bitching about the price of t-shirts...and that they chose not to sell theirs citing "blind consumerism, etc. and that the fans were getting ripped off. then why play the tour, it's only giving you the biggest break of your life, bite that hand that feeds you tosser...sign to that major label, have ted gardner, who at the time was alt rocks manager extraordinaire...meh.

my dislike for them is right up there with kathleen hanna.

I was never a fan of Soundgarden. I hated their sound. But I think Audioslave is a decent rock band. Chris Cornell is a tremendous vocalist. I have seen them live a few times and they were amazing. Their cover of White Stripe's 7 Nation Army is kick ass. And as for RATM, they are one of my favorite bands ever. I was sad as hell when they called it quits. Zach's solo stuff is pretty bad imo.
