| | | Cover bands. Yay or nay?
I say yay because the most I've paid to see cover bands is 10 dollars. They last from 3 to 4 hours and you get to listen to live music from bands that may not be around or atleast play live anymore.
I frequently go see Us and Them, a Pink Floyd Tribute band. They usually open with other tribute bands. Like a Janis Joplin Tribute band, The Doors, Led Zeppelin.
Saturday I am going to watch The Morrison Resurrection Experiment and Hole in the Sky is opening for them ( Black Sabbath tribute). I haven't seen the Sabbath tribute, so I can't wait for that.
I see nothing wrong with cover bands. They are just out there playing music they love. |

| | | generally speaking, tribute bands are shite.
I just don't like the whole idea. although I'm sure there is the odd exception, like the Bootleg Beatles, who have been together over twice as long as the actual Beatles were.
as a covers band though, I like Me First & The Gimme Gimmes. |

unless that was you making a fucking racket outside my window last night.
I saw a Jam tribute band called English Rose once and that drove home the principle that matters, which is that I think it only really works with bands who aren't around anymore.
doing covers of bands who are still touring makes no sense, unless the tciket is £30 cheaper and you're saving money to buy some new fence panelling or something I suppose. |

I completely agree. I haven't seen a tribute band performing songs of artists that are currently touring or what not. I'm not sure if there are any around here.
Edit: I see this thread was moved. Sorry I didn't put it in jukebox. I figured thatw as more of like recording artist.
