If I didn't know any better, I would have thought they were an obscure '90s band that I missed out on.

If their album had come out in '93 or '94, it would have been one of my high school favorites and stayed in my Sony Discman for weeks on end.

As it is, it's an extremely listenable throwback to a lot of the music I loved then -- and still love now. There are moments all over the album that remind me of Pavement, Dinosaur Jr., Yo La Tengo and even a bit of Smashing Pumpkins.

The deluxe edition is worth seeking out. Some of the bonus tracks -- particularly "Cousin Corona" -- are as good as most of the songs on the album proper.

pretty much. the last couple of songs were ones from the album i didn't really care for, and then it just went on and on and my boyfriend started whinging to leave. which he NEVER does. EVER.

they weren't bad live and the first half of the set was good. then it just got dull and drawn out.

People seem kind of in agreement. And I did miss that sound. And it is adorable. They should play some **** place in New Zealand. I'd totally go.
