how backwards is this?

i picked up on this band online that i'd never heard of before. they were mentioned in passing on a site i happened to be browsing. so i downloaded their entire album on Soulseek and decided i liked them. then at the cd-store today i saw their album on the shelf and i bought it, feeling good at having supported their band. until i took the album home and opened it up. it turns out they're on BMG and there's anti-piracy, "do not copy under penalty of law" warnings all over it. not only did it ruin the entire packaging, but it made me sorry that i'd spent the money on it. because if it hadn't been ripped i'd have never heard these guys.

how ironic.

can i get a refund on the free-marketting they just wasted?

HAHAHAHAAH anti piracy my arse. Sony makes their CDs copyright protected and then makes/sells Sound Forge that actually bypasses the encryption shit and rips the songs better than MP3 conversion software.

Go figure. Too many fingers in too many pies.

That said I've never downloaded a CD that I haven't bought, but I've only downloaded maybe 2 CDs. Maybe not even two, because I can remember getting Lamb S/T but I can't think what the second CD was...

wouldnt there be a good chance they had no control over the fact that BMG put that on the cd? i would think they might have not very much control over what actually gets put on there.
