The Alice In Chains thread

I don't know about you guys but I've always loved this band's music. They are my favorite grunge band by far (I don't count Hole as grunge, I just don't) and I don't even like that much grunge. I don't like Pearl Jam or Soundgarden's music. Something about Alice In Chains music I find so haunting and dark and rocking all at the same time. Layne's voice was so soulful and he fucking sang the hell out of those songs especially Would? and Jerry Cantrell's vocals can harmonize so well, not to mention his guitar playing is amazing. I think in many ways Alice In Chains influenced a lot of bands later on because I hear some bands that sing like them and have the same guitar sounds. I think that they should be remembered a little better than they are. Sure a lot of rock fans adore them and constantly praise them when they come up but it seems like they don't get as much credit and appreciation as some of the other bands from their generation. And they deserve it.

Just watch this unplugged performance. So touching and eerie because Layne looks so dead and he's looking like a broken wounded man singing and
every word that's coming out of his mouth seems to fit yet his voice is still powerful and soulful.

And then watch this performance of them rocking Would and Angry Chair live on New Years in the early 90s.
