Eighties indie legends back - Throwing Muses

Eighties indie legends back

Eighties indie legends Throwing Muses have reformed for three shows.

The band, currently consisting of Kristin Hersh, drummer David Narcizo and Bernard
Georges
on bass, are set to play the Innipukinn Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland on
August 5.

They will follow this festival appearance with two dates in the US.

The dates are:

Cambridge The Middle East (August 11)
New York Bowery Ballroom (12)

The band formed in Boston in 1983 and released a string of albums throughout the Eighties
and Nineties, the most acclaimed being 1991's 'The Real Ramona'. They carried on as a a
three-piece when guitarist Tanya Donelly quit to form Belly in 1992, and split after releasing
the album 'Limbo' in 1996.

They have reformed sporadically to perform live since then, and even got round to releasing
a self-titled comeback album in 2003, which featured backing vocals from Donnelly.

Meanwhile, Muses leader Hersh will play the following solo dates:

Seattle The Crocodile (July 25)
Portland Berbati's Pan (26)

Throwing Muses Return

Kristin Hersh has kept busy since her old band, Throwing Muses, broke up in 1997 and then reunited to record a second self-titled album in 2003. She is putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to her sixth solo album, The Grotto, (currently untitled and without a tracklist, but mentioned plenty, albeit mysteriously, on her official blog), and she has also stayed active with her post-Muses band 50 Foot Wave.

But it seems Hersh just can't keep those Muses away, as the band have scheduled precious few live dates in August, with support from 50 Foot Wave. Then, in September, 50 Foot Wave will open for Mission of Burma's West Coast tour.

It's a lot to take in, we know, but we've listed all of Hersh's dates below, with non-Throwing Muses performances designated in parentheses.

Touring muses:

07-25 Seattle, WA - Crocodile Cafe (Kristin Hersh solo) *
07-26 Portland, OR - Berbati's Pan (Kristin Hersh solo) *
07-29 Portland, OR - PDX Pop Now! Festival (50 Foot Wave show)
