i see what you're saying, i just cant help but wonder why this is never a consideration when it comes to tom cruise. he believes all the same shit hes just actually open about it. its just more fun for people to make fun is his weirdness, so thats where the double standard comes in.
if its someone a certain public likes and feels is credible in their music/ movies/ whatever, suddenly scientology is something no one should pass judgement on. but if youre in crappy action movies and have a goofy face, its all good to have a go.

im gonna try and keep my personal views on scientology out of this discussion, because i would hate for someone to judge my religious beliefs based on THEIR opinions. what i will say though, is that whoever wrote that piece is assuming that scientology is a cult, and is out to prove that as a fact. most articles i read written about scientology have that slant, or an even more negative one. and as much as i *personally* might have that idea too, i dont think it's acceptable to pass on that kind of attitude to the public. nothing makes it ok to try convince the public that someone's religion is a pile of shit, or that one religion is ok and another is not. that's fucked up and dangerous, and has happened with judaism (which has led to worldwide antisemitism throughout history), its happening now with islam, it's been happening amongst the 'educated' liberal public when it comes to christianity. it's all fucked up and completely out of line, regardless of what the parties authoring and spreading these messages think about the specific religion. so i dont see how it's ok with scientology....

scientology is always going to freak me out, but publically massacaring people who are a part of it shouldnt be happening. no matter what judgement anyone has of it, we're not going to 'save' tom cruise or beck or katie holmes from it. nor should we try. if thats what they believe in, let them enjoy or suffer the consequences of their decision to be a part of it without our opinions and judgements constantly being thrown into their faces constantly. i mean that on the part of the press and public. if they're getting themselves into a cult, that's their bad, end of story. there's nothing else to it and people should drop it, we have no stake in it besides the sensationalism of the story. which is ridiculous.
