| | | Unknown / Local bands / myspace etc. It's 4.30 am, so forgive me if I don't make myself clear.
I just went to a festival and bought some awesome CDs from some new totally unknown local bands and I feel like sharing with you.
On the other hand knowing the speed with which the general mp3 thread is developing, chances are they will go totally unnoticed.
I've also seen other threads about how many great bands there are in your country, that are not known to the rest of the world.
In this respect, do you think we can maybe have a separate thread for that?
Maybe a weekly sticky with a poll (rate this album). People can submit music and info to Bryan for example, kind of like the featured member sticky.
And then everybody can state their opinion about the artist. Could be an interesting thing for those looking for a new music.
Just and idea. |

| | | Burn Down Your Home Town ...... 5 bands you know of that I don't, but should. here's the rules.
pick five bands from your hometown (or country - if like me, your town appalls) and give me their best songs to listen to.
the bands MUST be still together/active.
try not to make it anyone i would know of.
do it however the fuck you like, but i did it the muxtape way.
ON WITH THE GAME!

| | | This is a great thread, I liked those songs, except PVH, that gives me the fear. I'm sure you'd know all the bands I know from here. |

| | was hoping there would be some people not from glasgow in this thread.
ho hum. I'll tell you who i like from glasgow though, not signed or anything, Iamchemist, especially when he's doing his covers. MySpace.com - iamchemist - Glasgow, UK - Electro / Indie / Pop alemán - www.myspace.com/iamchemist
and Sergeant a bit
and the apple scruffs are indie by numbers but I like their energy.

Alanis Morissette
An everygirl's diary rocks and pops by numbers and is dressed up in some of the loveliest studio craft you've ever heard. Confessional, passionate and very punk rock. MySpace.com - Alanis Morissette - LOS ANGELES, California - Rock / Alternativa / Pop - www.myspace.com/alanismorissette Nickelback
It doesn't matter that their sound is a little derivative as these hardworking boys can't help but inject the very essence of the blues into everything they do. Front man Chad Kroeger is a lot more than just a pretty face; Clear Channel's poet laureate is also the Leadbelly of the Ugly Betty age. MySpace.com - NICKELBACK - VANCOUVER - www.myspace.com/nickelback Avril Lavigne
This charismatic young iconoclast is impossible to ignore. It's just a shame her music is sometimes eclipsed by her compelling persona and refusal to conform to industry expectations. On songs like "Sk8R Boi" she displays a wisdom beyond her years not heard since Joni Mitchell penned "Both Sides Now" at age 20. MySpace.com - Avril Lavigne - Napanee, CA - Pop / Punk / Rock - www.myspace.com/avrillavigne Simple Plan
Once thought of as Canada's answer to Blink 182, we've since wised up. Guilty pleasures aren't supposed to be this inventive and thought provoking. The Beatles to Sum 41's Rolling Stones. MySpace.com - Simple Plan - Montreal, Quebec - Rock / Pop / Pop Punk - www.myspace.com/simpleplan Celine Dion
Despite her ties to radical, Quebec separatist groups her voice is a truly unifying force.
Whitney, Christina, Mariah??? Balls to that. Put me down for Team Celine! MySpace.com - Celine Dion - Las Vegas, US - Alternativa - www.myspace.com/celinedion |

Apparently, they were recording one day (after kicking him out) and looked out the window to see him climbing over the wall with a keyboard. He then sat outside the window and played their songs on the keyboard for an hour. At this point, he left and got in a taxi to go home; except he had no money. "No problem" said the taxi driver. "Leave your keyboard with me and then phone the office tomorrow when you can get some money to pay". So he did. He called the next day and to his surprise there was no record of a keyboard being handed in to be held until payment. Haha.
I also saw him when he once played with Action Beat - standing watching them, bopping his head along with his fingers in his ears, trying to pretend to enjoy the experience as much as he could. |
