Thoughts on MGMT

You know, for ages I shunned their music from my ears as best I could calling them pretentious acid heads who need to lay off the drugs and make less stupid music videos

Then I realized half the music I listen to, half the music most people listens to is drug influenced or the band members were often on drugs.... and many musicians I respect are/were fans of LSD

Why should I love the doors and ignore MGMT?

Is it just that they suck? What is it? I can't even figure it out.

What is KR's stance on MGMT?

I saw them on SNL and suffered from second hand embarrassment.

I loved the first album. Best CD I've had in my car for years. Not loving the new albums. Have reached the stage where I am so divorced from the reality of artists (never pay to see gigs anymore, don't have a TV to watch music videos, don't read music magazines, tend not to buy the CDs so I don't even know what they look like) that I don't really care what the artists look like, do or endorse. Unless they are notorious for goat ****ing or raping children or something. That might make me a little uncomfortable.

My knowledge of music is basically through the internet now a days. I liked "Kids" I suppose but something about them just turns me off and I can't figure out what it is. It's not even what they look like.

They sound very, very, very 70s. And sometimes that can annoy me a bit, its like, make something NEW and stop idolising an era you weren't even born in. But I really liked Time to Pretend and Electric Feel, so meh. New album seems to have got it slightly off though, it just doesn't sound right.
