As many of you know, I am a massive Serge Gainsbourg fan. Thought it was fitting that one of my first threads on the new
KR would be dedicated to Serge (who passed away 15 years ago last month).
There was a thread by historygravity about this CD on the old
KR; I just got this CD and recommend it to any English speaking fans who haven't been acquainted with a lot of his work. The highlights include Cat Power and Karen Elson's version of "Je T'aime...Moi Non Plus," Marianne Faithfull's ""Lola Rastaquouère," and Carla Bruni's "Ces Petits Riens."
In addition, I'd like to recommend some of Serge's original music. His best albums, in my opinion, are "Histoire de Melody Nelson" and "L'Homme à Tête de Chou." His music is pretty schizophrenic from the 1970s, with some raggae and a lot of psych-rock. YouTube has a pretty large collection of Serge music videos and clips.
