| | | lillith fair 2010 announces performers / Local Talent Search News & Announcements | lilithfair.com- Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow, Colbie Caillat, Erykah Badu, Ke$ha, Tegan and Sara, Miranda Lambert, Metric Among First Artists Announced to Join Sarah McLachlan on the 2010 Lilith Tour “Being a part of Lilith Fair was inspiring on so many levels. Besides discovering new music everyday and sharing the stage with an incredible array of talented women, it was wonderful to see established and new artists alike have the opportunity to play in front of much larger or more diverse audiences than usual. With that in mind, I am thrilled to announce the first set of artists for Lilith 2010.” – Lilith co-founder and main stage headliner Sarah McLachlan
December 10, 2009 (New York, NY) – Sarah McLachlan and the 2010 Lilith Tour are thrilled to reveal the first set of artists confirmed for next summer’s tour . Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu, Colbie Caillat, Ke$ha, Tegan and Sara, Miranda Lambert and Metric are among those set to join McLachlan on the road. Others include A Fine Frenzy, Indigo Girls, Emmylou Harris, Chairlift, Jill Scott, Sugarland, Brandi Carlile, Sara Bareilles, Zee Avi and The Weepies . (Full list of confirmed artists thus far below).
This initial list of artists includes a few original members of the Lilith Fair of the late 90s, (like Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris, Indigo Girls, Tegan and Sara and Erykah Badu). Erykah Badu, who performed on the main stage in 1998, reflects on her initial Lilith run and why she has signed up again: “Magic happens when you bring this many artistic women together. I'll never forget the frequency and energy that I felt that first time I performed at Lilith. Between the sistas on stage and those in the audience, it was powerful!" “The 2010 Lilith Tour isn’t just a celebration of women in music, but a celebration of diverse female voices across all genres,” says co-founder Terry McBride. “The original Lilith Fair broke down boundaries, and the new tour promises to do the same, with a mix of contemporary and classic, established and up-and-coming artists from the worlds of pop, rock, urban, country and more.” More artist thoughts on joining the 2010 Lilith Tour: Grammy-nominated country star Miranda Lambert:
“I am excited to be part of a tour that celebrates and acknowledges talented women from all genres of music, and am so proud to have the opportunity to join the prestigious line up of past female artists who have performed on Lilith Fair.” Brooklyn-based indie-pop band Chairlift:
“It seemed to me that when the first Lilith Fair hit in the 90s, it brought back a kind of 70s feminist mentality. This time around in 2010, Lilith has that same 20-year evocative relation with the 90s. We’re all psyched to represent, if not as a “girl group” (which we don’t particularly consider ourselves, being two-thirds male), for the spirit of the playful and mysterious women of the new decade.” Pop singer/songwriter/pianist Sara Bareilles:
"I was beyond thrilled to hear of Lilith’s return. I was never lucky enough to get to see one of the shows in the original incarnation, but I have been waiting for this for a long time. I love the philosophy behind this concert series, both celebrating women in music and also how music can help benefit the communities around them. I almost can't believe that I actually get a chance to be a part of this! Lilith 2010 here we come." Indie-rock duo Tegan and Sara:
“Sara and I played one of the last Lilith Fair shows ever 10 years ago in Edmonton, AB. We only played one show and it was on the smallest stage, in the rain, to nearly no one. And yet, for the past 10 years, it continues to come up in almost every interview and is something we honestly look back on as a very important event in our career. The impact of Lilith Fair was felt all over the world, and its significance still resonates with women and the music industry itself 10 years later. We are proud to be a part of it again and are truly excited that Lilith is back.” The first round of artists confirmed for the 2010 Lilith Tour are: A Fine Frenzy, Ann Atomic, Ash Koley, Brandi Carlile, Butterfly Boucher, Chairlift, Chantal Kreviazuk, Colbie Caillat, Corinne Bailey Rae, Donna Delory, Emmylou Harris, Erykah Badu, Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, Ima, Indigo Girls, Ingrid Michaelson, Janelle Monae, Jennifer Knapp, Jill Hennessy, Jill Scott, Katzenjammer, Ke$ha, Mary J. Blige, Meaghan Smith, Metric, Miranda Lambert, Nneka, Sara Bareilles, Sarah McLachlan, Serena Ryder, Sheryl Crow, Sugarland, Susan Justice,Tara MacLean, Tegan and Sara, Vedera, Vita Chambers, The Submarines, The Weepies, Ximena Sarinana, Zee Avi

| | | They should add some edgy artists. A metal band or two? Some upcoming hip hop preformers (Niki Manaj etc.)
The list just seems a bit too safe. |
