Fans picking up
The Strokes single for "You Only Live Once," (due out in mid-July) are in for a special treat. Teaming up with
Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and
Queen Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme, the band has recorded a cover of
Marvin Gaye's "Mercy Mercy Me." Homme will use his
Eagles of Death Metal drum skillz on the B-side joining
The Strokes' Fabrizio Moretti. Vedder and
Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas will share vocals, trying to recreate the soft soothing sounds of Gaye.
Vedder and the boys from New York have been buddy buddy as of late as the six joined up for a performance of "Juicebox" in New York. Casablancas and crew have also been seen at two of
Pearl Jam's New York City gigs.
