Music you used to think was the deepest shit ever... but don't anymore

What music did you think was "way deep and shit" when you were younger but now... not so much?

For Me:

Garbage
The Distillers
Hole
My Ruin - I always forget that I ever listened to them.
some Nirvana lyrics are like that now.

I still jam out to those bands on occasion (except for My Ruin). except the lyrics seem kind of lol. I know there's more.

Green Day
Mariah Carey
The Cranberries

...Most of the 90's pop punk shit that I listened to. When I was a teenager I listened to a lot of crap. I only listen to a few bands still from back then. Screeching Weasel and stuff. There isn't too much music I consider really deep except maybe classical music, maybe some classic country. 2pac is pretty deep sometimes.

There's a lot of stuff I listen to now that I never gave a chance back then. If it wasn't PUNK!!! then I wasn't listening to it. My favorite band, Siouxsie and the Banshees, would have never been given a second thought back then, even though I got into them when I was 20.

Oh I still think Tori Amos is deep.

But for the most part I'm over dramatic stuff.

I want to hear, I want to hear
The scream of the butterfly

this disillusionment with the doors is mine as well...

though not so much for morrison's lyrics, as with the musicianship of the band especially after their recent tour with ian astbury and all of their grovelings since jim died..pathetic..there is very little of the doors catalogue i can even bear these days. i do like the rare bluesy stuff like backstage and dangerous and some others..

guns n roses make me feel pretty stoopid now..as well as pearl jam, soundgarden, nirvana, dino jr, etc...its all vacant and meaningless really...once you've grown up a bit..
