The Killers' Brandon Flowers has blamed Nirvana and Kurt Cobain for making rock music depressing. Despite the seminal grunge frontman dying almost 15 years ago to the day (he took his life on April 5, 1994), Flowers lambasted Cobain. "I don't mean it in a bad way but I think Kurt Cobain and grunge took the fun out of rock and roll," he said. However, Flowers says that he thinks his band is now making American music "a lot more playful and brighter" (Daily Star).

Given that Brandon Flowers's band is one of the most boring I can think of, he can fuck off with whatever he says.

Brandon really sounds like someone's parent, doesn't he, what with his rampant generalisations. Punk, thrash, speed, black and death metal were around well before Nirvana's emergence and none of the aforementioned genres were particularly happy-clappy.

A bit arrogant, really, I mean you're only as big as your last album, for all we know, with the fickle tastes in music, the Killers this time next year could turn out to meet the same destiny as the Knack and Men At Work If I'm not mistaken, weren't the Scissor Sisters supposed to herald a new world order in "happy" the other year, where exactly are they now?

Brandon Flowers is just full of shit. I used to listen to Mr BrightSide for a while only because I was in a relationship that had three people.

But, the music he makes is crap. I'd choose Nirvana over The Killers every time.
