i hate to come in here and **** all over your thread. But, no. The Libertines were good. But, even if they were still a functional band putting out new music, I don't think they were good enough to be interesting even this long together.

I am the biggest Pete Doherty fan in the universe and yes, I cannot wait for this I've known most of these songs for years but it will be nice to hear them all recorded properly. I tend to favor the crappy recordings he does himself but from what i've heard so far, the songs arent overproduced. You can hear 3 of them here

If you look at the Last of the English Roses (teaser video) you can see my friend and I climbing up on stage and then getting a picture with him at 2:23 in. I flew from America to see him perform in September.

A friend of mine has heard the album and says it's not that great :/ However, I'll still download it and judge for myself. So far, I don't like the first single, Last of the English Roses. The verses are good, but I just find the chorus kind of bland and boring. As for Lady Don't Fall Backwards, I prefer his acoustic version of it from 04... not really feeling the album version. The other song that's out so far, I can't even remember the name of it, which says it all, I think.

Still, I'll give the rest of the songs a chance... I'm hoping I'll like at least some of them, because I love his music. I've just thought for a while now that any solo album he does is going to be a bit overproduced, and so far it seems like I'm right.

PS - not to start a big old thing or anything, but I've never understood wishing death on someone you don't like. There are plenty of musicians I really don't like - I don't wish any of them would actually die. But hey, that's just me.
