Released in February of 1980, OMD’s first album started off the decade with a bang that was barely heard. Though considered a rare masterpiece in the synth pop community, the album failed to chart until the song “Messages” was re-recorded and released as a single later that year. What sets it aside from other albums of its ilk is the organic quality of the synthesizers and drum loops; they are unhindered by the cold, sterile preciseness that generally defines the genre. Upon listening one has the feeling that each note is being played manually, none of them programmed or predetermined. Tracks worth noting are “Electricity,” “Almost,” the previously mentioned “Messages,” and “Red Frame/White Light.”
it's totally not fair to leave out "bunker soldiers".

things i left out but which should be here:

i have to post this one because my life in the 80's was not complete without it. i listened to it about a hundred million times. one night, when we were on acid, coke and wine, my best friend and i listened to side one ALL NIGHT LONG. literally.

oh and we listened to we're only in it for the money, too, but thats not from the 80;s./

AND MOTHERFUCING Yaz - Upstairs at Erics

and HABER MENSCH by einstersende neubauten
seriously i would not be representing myself well without those albums
