Andrew Bird is so awesome, and that's not a word I use lightly. I'm really really excited about the new album; Pitchfork says there's whistling aplenty, PHEW. He's one of a very few living musicians I love but haven't seen live. Apparently the live experience is something pretty special, so say my friends who've seen him (hate hate hate my friends).

DO IT. I was talking to a friend the other day about how these are two of my favourite sounds. They're in my top 5 - the others are theremin, children's toys actually integrated into the song, not just used for indie quirk points, and interesting percussion (pots & pans, tap dancing, looped door slamming and so on). Andrew Bird's whistling is something sublime though - if Otis Redding is the kid's ocarina orchestra, Birdy is the principal soloist in the British Philharmonic.
