Lucinda Williams has a new record out in about a week. I'm pretty shocked she's releasing a new album in under 2 years since her last record, 2007's West. She usually takes a pretty long time.

So far, the results are good. I'm much more impressed with the material so far than I was with West. The song If Wishes Were Horses is definitely top tier Lucinda. Real Love is probably the most fun rock song she's done. It's some cute and corny lyrics but they kind of work (You squeeze my peaches and send me post cards of girls on beaches).

EDIT: And by the way, the reason she has released this album so early, is that some of the material was already recorded during the West sessions and some songs like Circles and X's and If Wishes Were Horses were already written. This is all from what I read, not totally 100% sure on this so don't hold me to that.

and btw, there was a thread about this that has been merged so this one will probably be merged too, no big deal I'm sure though .
