| | | Totally Lame So I have like this massive gift certificate to a music store and like, I don't know what to get?
Everything I want to listen to is already on my Ipod. I read music reviews for new bands but that doesn't inspire me.
HELP MEEEEEE. I need to get my groove back.
TO give you an idea of what I am listening to right now:
Lots and lots of Lou Reed and Velvet Underground
Rolling Stones
But you know, my favorite bands are The Smiths (MORRISSEYYYY) and Belle & Sebastian. Not feel particularly twee, though.
Samples are appreciated. They don't have to be albums, of course. But like streamable music is cool.

| | | I wish it was a gift certificate to like Best Buy, then I could buy anything! This is for an indie record store in the city.

| | | John Cale maybe? If you like Lou Reed and the Velvets then you might like some of his mid-1970s solo stuff (Fear and Helen of Troy in particular).

| | | Oh Ok. I see, so basically you have a very limited selection to choose from.
Since it was a gfit certificate, I'd just buy some random cd or two and see if I like it. Maybe it will broaden your music selection? And, if you don't like it, just donate it back to them or give it away or something. It's not like you really lost any $. |

In fact, I was considering it today. I actually really wish I could use this money to buy concert tickets.

| | | How uncool are you? I'm quite rating White Lies and Ladyhawke, and I see them both as terminally unhip. Particularly White Lies. Doesn't mean I don't rather like them...

| | | do you like bonnie prince billy, he has that kinda stripped downness of the velvets and stuff. I wouldn't go for his most recent maybe viva last blues (which is actually under his Palace moniker).
lydis lunch and rowland howard shotgun wedding? I thought rowland sounded a bit johnny marr esque on that album, loads of chorus on the guitar. It's still goth as hell though.
sufjan stevens has a lot twee but not quite that twee appeal. like I think he gets it just right, precious songs, stripped down arrangements but it's not whiney. also really good lyrics.
Adam Green, Jonathon Richman?
