| | | Why did I think Nirvana was the greatest as a teen, and now why do I think they suck? ?????????
I mean, Nirvana was so damn epic when I was younger. Now I think they're mediocre. Why is this? |

In Utero, by the way, was garbage except for like, four songs: Dumb, Heart Shaped Box, Serve the Servants and Milk It. All Apologies should have been acoustic. |

| | | During that time frame, Nirvana was something new that was great at the time because it broke up the elite snobbery of Hair metal but then came the copy cats and now people are into boring emo music.
Kurt was grungy and didn't care about his looks.
How much hairspray did that band Poison wear? Sure Kurt was on drugs but I'm sure he did it because he had something else going on inside of his head. He probably felt the need to do drugs in order to deal with fame so that he wouldn't stay on the streets forever.

| | | I will always have a soft spot for Nirvana, but like a lot of other people I don't listen to them anymore. They're not as, "Woah!" as I used to think they were.

| | | Fame is soooo hard. Please. Kurt wasn't nearly as big as he thought he was. He only got big after he (or Courtney) blew his brains out. Before that, only scene people knew who Nirvana was. They really weren't that mainstream.
Nirvana live, by the way, were friggin terrible. Check out those youtubes. Even back in the day they had a reputation for sucking live. |

| | | No. Nirvana were mainstream with the release of Nevermind. that album was multiplatinum and known the world over as soon as it was released. it prompted a whole movement in popular music. Kurt committing suicide did not blow the band up in any way. it may have made Courtney more famous. but, Nirvana was huge waaay before. |

This was BEFORE he was dead. I heard of Hole when they played the song Violet at some dance thing at school.

they had something to say. they represented a generation like no one else had before. so many people could relate to their music and even found solace in it.
sociologically, they transformed a generation.
nirvana was powerful.
it had nothing to do with catchy songs.
its sad that you think that. of course like i said, you are probably too young to even remember when kurt was alive. so you probably dont know what youre talking about.

I was old enough to know about them when they were around through a kid in my class. I thought they were great, like I said, but none of this generation defining nonsense. Nirvana THEMSELVES denied that they transformed a generation, they just were a group of guys playing in a band. Only journalists think that they were that massive. |
