Badfinger appreciation thread

Chortle if you must, get it out of the way, but it is long overdue that this quintet are afforded their due.

We had mentions of various genres - hippie, glam, metal, punk and disco - ****, we had not just the musical but the FILM lauding ABBA's merits and you know what? It's about time appreciation was afforded to the power pop vehicle that is known as Badfinger. Of course, to the under 25's this may elicit the reaction of " uh, whatever" but hear me out. Deride the hairstyles, giggle at the terminally 70's fashions, but IMHO, had tragedy not so quicky intervened, this band would have effortlessly crested that gap between the Beatles and Led Zep. The vocals, harmonies and instrumentals were the IDEAL of what constituted the melodic three minute song. This band were unilaterally ravaged by bad fortune in a way that even Spinal Tap couldn't begin to encompass. Be that as it may, please try to spare a moment and appreciate the penultimate band "that could have been"....

Wow, I actually like Badfinger.
I think they did the soundtrack to the Peter Sellers' movie The Magic Christian. It was the high point of a movie that didn't have many high points, save for Graham Chapman showing up.

My musical taste lately = A LOT of 1970s rock.
I am currently obsessed with Gilbert O'Sullivan's music, he was way underrated. And very un-rock star like.

I love Badfinger! No Matter What is my idea of something close to the perfect pop song, and most other things they did were genius too. I personally think their Without You knocks Nilsson out cold.

Yay for the Badfinger love. Sometimes I think to myself that they're better than The Beatles...
