there's a lot of problems with the whole play your entire album thing. first you need a band that can perform as well, if not better, live than on record. what's the point if they can't produce the album live without protools. unless this is stripped down, in which case you better be really good. second they need to be able to translate that album into a live show.
then you need a record that's actually worth listening to all the way through. and that's the real problem isn't it? so many shitty records out there.
and since i've seen two of my favourite albums of all time performed live these are the only others i can think of that could be great:
bob dylan's highway 61 revisited
the cure's disintegration
hole's live through this (circa lineup 1995)
radiohead's the bends (don't listen to clotty lexy, she's a debby downer)

i've got the dvd! The Cure: Trilogy is a double live album video, released on two double layer DVD-9 discs. It is an effort by Robert Smith to appease fans that had been asking for years for a concert in which the band's three similarly-themed albums, Pornography (1982), Disintegration (1989) and Bloodflowers (2000) be played live in concert. Smith not only did this, but also arranged it so that the songs were played in the order in which they appeared on the albums, rather than the usual random selection and arrangement. Trilogy was recorded on two consecutive nights in November 2002, in Berlin at the Tempodrom arena.
Smith is quoted on the sleeve about the " trilogy" concept and its eventual execution: "The albums Pornography, Disintegration and Bloodflowers are inextricably linked in so many ways, and the realisation of this Trilogy show is one of the highlights of my time in The Cure." Disc 1 "Pornography"- 1. "One Hundred Years"
- 2. "A Short Term Effect"
- 3. "The Hanging Garden"
- 4. "Siamese Twins"
- 5. "The Figurehead"
- 6. "A Strange Day"
- 7. "Cold"
- 8. "Pornography"
"Disintegration"- 9. "Plainsong"
- 10. "Pictures of You"
- 11. "Closedown"
- 12. "Lovesong"
- 13. "Last Dance"
- 14. "Lullaby"
- 15. "Fascination Street"
- 16. "Prayers for Rain"
- 17. "The Same Deep Water as You"
- 18. "Disintegration"
- 19. "Homesick"
- 20. "Untitled"
Disc 2 "Bloodflowers"- "Out of This World"
- "Watching Me Fall"
- "Where the Birds Always Sing"
- "Maybe Someday"
- "The Last Day of Summer"
- "There Is No If..."
- "The Loudest Sound"
- "39"
- "Bloodflowers"
Encore section - 10. "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep"
- 11. "The Kiss"

| | | Ben Kweller did three of his albums on three different nights. i am not going to post setlists, because I am too fucking lazy.
he did Sha Sha one night, On My Way the next night, and I forget what the third album is called on the third night. I almost traveled to see On My Way, but decided against it in the end. |

| | | This has only happened to me once, back in the day, when I saw My Vitriol and they played the 'Finelines' album from start to finish including all of the interludes.
It was pretty special. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | |
