I saw this on the charts a week ago but hadn't heard it. I thought it was a Jill Sobule cover. Boooooooooooooring. I forgot about it.

Last night I heard this on the radio and it sounded like it was one of those boy-ie emo bands and I thought, FUCKING BRILLIANT! A gay boy saying I kissed a girl. Hahahahaha!

Alas, it's not a boy. Wouldn't it be so much better if it was? Now I wish a boy would sing it and make it the first gay teen anthem! A gay boy tempted to be straight.

Who should do it? Who could do it? Maybe somebody new?

i enjoy the whole cd. so much i went to buy a real copy bc my car stereo hates mp3 cds & makes me listen from square one ALL THE TIME. and i now hate tracks 1-4 due to over listening. but not really just kinda.

Ok, I have listened to the song, done some research and feel I can now give an informed opinion.

It's really bad. But not really any worse or more offensive than the rest of the commercial, contrived bilge radios around the world pump out every hour of every day. We move ever closer to the era of the versificator, blah blah blah.

I guess this song's got a little trick up its sleeve in a desperate attempt to mark itself out, the 'killing two birds with one stone' trick: men love the implied fantasy that all lesbians are sexy, or the idea that all women are secretly copping off with one another behind the men's backs but ONLY in a harmless way. After all, if lesbians did more than kiss, men would be obsolete! No man wants to hear his fantasy tell him that. Feminists get annoyed that she's diminishing female-female relationships to the level of something 'naughty' done to titillate men, then write about it in the Guardian (or American equivalent) blog pages, thereby generating 'controversy'.

Yawn.

but her actual voice and vocal range is phenominal...so much better than alot of the shit that's getting to the radio vocially.

i really disapprove of the radio's decision that i need to hear this song 173 times a day.

i thought maybe just 85 or 90 times would be sufficient. but i guess i'm just wrong.

i love jill sobule. she wrote i kissed a girl and supermodel, near novelty pop rock minor hits which never crossed into unlistenable crap. she also released a lot of other albums which were nowhere near as warmly received but were really good. and she's still working the singer/songwriter circuit like lisa loeb and a bunch of others. she's got a lot of talent though. katy perry does not. katy perry deserves to be buried, alive, with her songs she probably didn't write. she probably just came up witht he melodies and gave it to a guy. fakefakefake. die katy.
