| Well, I appreciate his work with Bush, and I do agree that they were/are underrated and took a little more abuse than they deserved, at times.
Institute, well, they were fucking excellent live, enjoyable to meet (actually found Gavin to be the least enjoyable to talk to, to be honest) but overall, the record and the quality of the songwriting was mostly below the level of Bush.
The solo record, titled "Wanderlust", comes out June 3rd in the US.
I've heard it, and to be completely honest, while I really do like "Love Remains the Same" and a track from it called "Futureworld" (which is actually a kinda cool reggae song he co-wrote with Dave Stewart) I otherwise found it to be really weak and full of bland soft-rock. There are moments where you hear bits of melody and chord changes that have potential, but then it'll shift from a strong verse into a chorus that just sounds bad or out of step with the rest of the song.
There really ought to be a "Nigel Pulsford appreciation thread", as he was definitley the coolest and brought the most soul to the band. And his solo record is better than Gavin's, too. |
