Christina by a mile. I really don't understand Mariah Carey.
Did anyone see the Saturday Night Live episode where Christina is singing her signature, Linda Perry, written song Beautiful totally accapella? It was amazing. That's all I can say, it left me speechless.

I think Mariah's fans must be a bunch of jocko dykes, because the way they judge art is a little alarming.
She can hit the most notes, so she must be the best!!! They can't wrap their track & field mentalities around the fact that isn't the case.
I realize this isn't the fag feud in question, but Madonna pulls off a song like "Live to Tell" despite her limited vocals. Mariah has made a career of over-emoting and wouldn't know subtlety if it grew watermelon sized and lodged itself in her fish pit.
I vote for Christina. Sort of by default, but also because I've liked a few of her singles.
Some of my worst memories from elementary school involve having "Hero" played at year end assemblies. No idea who's bright idea that was, but I'm sure she was fat.
Christina smells of Linda Perry. Courtney is enough for me, I don't need Chrissie to do it as well.

that's not true though? i can understand why someone would think that from just listening to the singles, but if you hear songs like "looking in", it's pretty obvious that she CAN sing without the over-the-top vocals.
i picked mariah cos i've always loved her hahah but i like christina as well. they are fo shiz my guilty pleasure music.

Christina, although Mariah is a class singer too but in a way that you just know she spent her whole life with singing coaches. Xtina's got a voice of her own.

I have to say, Mariah's version of "Bringing on the Heartbreak" [Def Leppard original] won it for me. She's done more utter bilge than Christina, but she's done more bearable stuff as well. Just more of everything, including entertaining breakdowns, and videos with fat kids on rollerblades. Not that I actually like either much.
Once, my friend's car got broken into when she was down on the beach. For some reason, the only thing taken was a CD of Mariah Carey's MTV Unplugged that I had bought her for about three bucks. Gutting.

i have to say that "bringing on the heartbreak" was pretty phenomenal for me. it really is by far the best cover she's done. which was surprising, because i take my 80's stripper jams very seriously. i could've done without the video though.
& when it comes to whitney, i've never really thought much of her vocally. i think her voice kind've trite & boring. sure she can belt & hold a note, but other than that, she's just so bland. & i've never actually been able to like her songs, sans the Bodyguard OST. & when people compared whitney to mariah, i always wondered why, seeing as whitney's voice is just so basic & mariah's is just so much more.
when it comes down it, mariah has more talent than whitney can smoke. & that's that.
I mean, I just got led from that youtube to another of Mariah which had showed parts of her range from A2 to F7.
And I thought, is there any need for anybody to be singing a F7? It doesn't even sound good. It adds nothing to the song. It's just squealing for the sake of it.
