| | | worst rehashing of a decade ever there's that idea everything gets ripped off 20 years later.
i feel really let down by this decade's ripping off of the 80's music. i'm sick of my generation. they're too impressed by thundercats. they think wearing a thundercats t-shirt speaks volumes.
and in another couple of years it will be the 90's turn.
i'm hoping since grunge never went away, it just became increasingly watered down and called modern rock, that something else is ripped off.
maybe 90's dance music. early 90's dance music reminds me of cars from the 50's,60's,70's when everything was fucking huge and obnoxious but could withstand a rocket attack.
since then the music became all tinny & and amatuerish. it stopped sounding good so it could be palatable to people who like liz phair. because if it sounds good, they don't trust it.
i hope roseanne gets rehashed too. today's sitcoms about trash are too glossy.
roseanne's appearance improved drastically through the show's run, and a dog like becky could never get a freakishly hot guy like mark, but for the most part the show's trashy integrity was maintained. they always bought store brand potato chips.
i hope 10's U2 rips off 90's U2. i hope 10's REM and madonna rip off 90's REM and madonna.
madonna needs to get a divorce and make erotica part II the cougar version.
her musical progression has been stifled by her marriage. the story sorta ended after music. |

| | | writing about the 90's got me thinking about the rosie o'donnell show. i checked out her website, but it was pretty dull.
so after submitting a question to 'ask rosie' (would you do margot kidder?) i decided to see what jenny jones is up to these days.
according to her site, she's giving away a million dollars. WTF??? jenny jones has a million dollars to give away?
i also checked out her 10 tips for beautiful skin, but most of them are just common sense. |

If Brooke was really committed, there'd be KRTV by now.

| | | i've always thought it would be a great idea if there was a sitcom with kim basinger and vanna white as sisters. it happened, but the show was hope & faith, and neither of them had anything to do with it.
and then years later i found out they're both big drunks. so if anything happens it should probably be a little darker. |

| | | ive been wanting to get the whole 'fucking wow im so impressed with roseanne' feeling off my chest. i grew up in the 90s but sitcoms were too grown up for me. recently all ive been watching has been roseanne. i also love how the wardrobe was horrific. oversized tshirts and knitted sweaters. but thats how most people dress!

I don't think there's ever been another show like that in terms of wardrobe. I think they even had DJ wear a blue coat that had belonged to Becky a few seasons before. It wasn't a joke or anything or even mentioned. It was just his coat for a bunch of episodes. |

Haha. I also remember growing up in the 90s and looking back at 80s fashion and then cringing.
And then moving to a college town in '04 and wondering if I'd somehow stepped into a wormhole leading to 1986. The absolute worst of the 80s fashion had consumed the entire town. I was tempted to request my mom to mail my old flannels and baby tees from jr. high and high school so I could be considered ahead of the times. The best fashion I saw around town then had a 60s flair to it (not the hippie 60s either).
If any 90s fashion does come back, it's all good to me so long as it doesn't include JNCO jeans and smiley faces on everything. At least Hammer pants will provide me with much laughter!
Really though, let's just take it way back. 1886. Sunbonets and long petticoats ftw!

| | | Oh yeah, I might have missed the memo on that whole NME rules the airwaves bs. Here I am, back in the 8-bit age with the rest of the new wave honkies.
I'm waiting for the fourth wave ska revival now.

I also loved how every few months they had a new job. I've been watching them on nick at nite so the storylines are confused, but they have had at least 4 jobs since I started watching. Ack and their house always looked like a mess, especially the staircase.

| | | I think it's just a particular musical genre that does this. it's like the now thing only it's hard to spot. I mean take a handful of current bands and the thing they have in common is they all take very obviously from a past scene. I think it's calculated and I don't think it will last. personally I like a fair bit of it.
oh and post punk revival has happened. franz ferdinand, interpol were probably the most obvious and succesful acts from it.
