Duran Duran - saw 'em!

They were awesome.....showing my age but they rocked hard, were tight as a drum and creative and fresh.

If you get the chance to see them - do it!!!

In case you want to know what they played…

PALAIS THEATRE, AUSTRALIA

April 3, 2008

Duran Duran at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne, Australia

THE VALLEY

RED CARPET MASSACRE

NITE RUNNER

HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF

PLANET EARTH

NEW RELIGION

FALLING DOWN

COME UNDONE

THE REFLEX

NOTORIOUS

A VIEW TO A KILL

ELECTROSET (This was like an electro/acoustic interlude where the 4 original members lined up along the front of the stage with keyboards and a drum machine to do this medley of their more electronic songs - very cool to get Roger and Nick out the front!!)

LAST CHANCE ON THE STAIRWAY/ALL SHE WANTS IS/LEATHERETTE/
I DON’T WANT YOUR LOVE/SKIN TRADE/TEMPTED

Return to normal arrangements:

RIO

ORDINARY WORLD

SAVE A PRAYER

WHITE LINES

HOLD BACK THE RAIN

SUNRISE

WILD BOYZ

GIRLS ON FILM

I saw them a couple of times when Warren was still playing with them. I've thought about going because I've never seen the original line-up, but then I heard that John Taylor threw a little tantrum at one of the shows there in Australia. I figured that it's just as well that I not go, I can't afford it, and if Simon's pants get any tighter I don't think I'll be able to handle it.

I love them though, and I'm glad you liked the show.

Playing "Last chance on the stairway" is cool. And sticking to their guns over their White Lines cover is good too, I personally always kind of liked it!

I think they should have played The Chauffeur, however.

apparently they played it the first night of the V festival and it was a bit dull so they have dropped it.

I also heard about the John Taylor hissy fit, but he has come out and said he saw something wrong (technically speaking) on the side of the stage and dashed over to fix it and came right back on so is not sure what all the fuss was about.

They were fun, gracious and very appreciative of the audience's enthusiasm.

I missed out on seeing them when I was a major teenage fan, so seeing them now makes me feel 15 years old all over again!!

A bit dull? They just need to do a better job of it, clearly. There are loads of Rio songs in the set, and I do believe it's their best album, I think they should play just about all of it. And no bloody "Wild Boys". They should play Election Day, for laughs. I quite rate it.

*played Wild Boys 2nd last song*

I would love to have heard a bit of Arcadia (Goodbye is forever please) and/or PowerStation....maybe even a little of John Taylor's "I do what I do what I do" single! That was a breathy seduction if ever I heard one!

No, I meant that ideally there would be no Wild Boys. Breathy seduction is a right laugh. As is the concept of John Taylor thinking he'd have a quite marvellous solo career, at any stage of human development.
