| | | CDs I have purchased in 2008 Damaged/Course of Nature
Daughtry/Daughtry
Riot/Paramore
You'll Rebel to Anything/Mindless Self Indulgence
Bedlam in Goliath/Mars Volta
They haven't arrived quite yet... now, in your personal opinion, wise choices or did I waste my money? If the latter, for which?? I purchased Damaged sinply for "Anger cage" and "Live Again", I realize that they are Nickelback clones but those songs are enough reason for me...
Daughtry's songs WORK, I mean that is the best way to put it... they really really work...
Paramore, only for Misery Business, again, enough reason... plus I am drawn to female frontwomen.
MSI, I used to get compared to Jimmy when I had spikes but I had never heard their music until I saw them perform (On Last Call w/ Carson Daly of all places) and I fell in love with Shut Me Up. Then late last year I heard Backmasking and Bitches in my friend's car and I loved those as well (so I will probably be getting Frankenstein... as well)
The Mars Volta... I heard like a 10 second clip of them ages ago on a commercial for oneof their albums (probably their first one) and I was impressed never bothered to buy anything but I had to get something... so I settled on their latest one, I'll probably go back and get the other three.
I have to go now. |

| | | I've bought a few, but no new releases I don't think. Suck. Admittedly I live somewhere with no music store, and I have yet to get into buying online. I suppose I'm saving money, but I'm still not overly happy about it.

| | | 'Riot' isn't a bad album, but it's only good if you're like, 13.
You'll Rebel To Anything doesn't feel like a real album, it's short, but it gets played a lot. |

Last week I had 505.00 on it and now I am down to 70 dollars :-/
Dollie, I would think "Riot" would be like a slightly less contrived Autobiography and a more substantial Best Damn Thing... which would result in a pretty enjoyable CD. I don't mind short albums at all, I saw Frankenstein had like 30 songs on it, but many of them were like 50 seconds anyways so... yeah
Sickle Cell, which Mars album is the best?? I've only heard two songs from At The Drive In and like a clip of mars but I can totally tell what I like, I mean I fell in love with Hole over a commercial for the Celebrity Skin album... and we're not even going to get into that
I have to go grocery shopping now. |

The whole reason I started getting CD's online was so that I could get Scarling's debut... and it completely slipped my mind. |

| | | The only season of American Idol I followed was the one with Daughtry and it was all because of him. I figured I'd buy anything he released because he's hot.
But by the time the album came out, I didn't give a fuck anymore.
I hope he stays with his fat wife though. I'm scared now that he's famous he's going to dump her for the kind of flash in the pan Playmate whore most Clear Channel musicians date.
That would make me sad. |

Is The Sleepy Jackson good? I have Lovers, but not the second album. I LOVE 'Lovers' though. Mourning Rain is an amazing track. |

I'm such a francophile! | Jeez, I don't mean to be rude, but if that chick happens to EVER become the only possible basic reference popping in people's mind as sort of an icon for French artistry, I'll need a bullet in my head. I mean, I'd certainly be the first to reckon the absence of acts you could (even arguably) refer to as somewhat atypical performers, apart from Edith Piaf and Serge Gainsbourg, since not like there were many truly exciting bands going strong or at all around in France these days, but still!
There are definitely quite a few way more woth a listen than Yelle and her dumbass pseudo lyrics and boring beats. Even though I understand, I guess, her face being plastered in the press more than these. I recall the horror of the music played in a so-called high end clothing shop my sister took me to the other day, which consisted of, over a period of something like 20 minutes, some stupid remix that was a total massacre of Fleetwood Mac's Rhiannon and a boring as hell, erm, 'song' that had nothing more than a single line as its lyrics, repeating: so fucking sexy, you're a sexy fuck.
How come I may ever be willing to go clubbing again in environments dominated by such shit? Even when I feel I might not be too disturbed or uncomfortable spending money to get in smoky areas full of thirsty whores and poseurs, thinking the worst I could hear would be a bad Dannii Minogue remix, something I really can't stand gets overplayed.
Anyway, not my point here, but I'll have to throw in some French releases in the music sharing thread sometime, for good measure.
And finally back to the initial topic...
So far I bought Otep The_Ascension Battle Of Mice A Day Of Nights Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions Bavarian Fruit Bread (I really wanted to have this on vinyl as well) Emilie Autumn 4 O'Clock
And I think that's about it.
I'll probably buy Katy Rose's next record, all the more I don't think I'll be that obsessed with buying the next Autumn's Grey Solace full-length after all (unless something else is eventually picked, the artwork's going to suck...), so that should make extra money for it in some way.
Wait, Jill Tracy should release something this year as well. I'll just have to buy this. |

Just so you all know, you see. I just wanted to make sure no one wandered through cyberspace accusing me of being a philostine!! Haha! | |
