AMANDA PALMER (Dresden Dolls)

Hola Comrades!!! Here's be the newses!

AMANDA PALMER WITH THE BOSTON POPS
Yes, the Boston Pops.
Tell your parents! They'll be wicked impressed!

June 19 & 20, 2008 at Symphony Hall, Boston, MA

Before embarking on some serious touring all year (more on that soon to come!) in support of "Who Killed Amanda Palmer", I'll be playing these two epic shows featuring songs from the record, some arrangements of Dolls songs, and some surprises. There will be live filmy goodness care of Michael Pope and extra-curricular theatrics care of Steven Mitchell Wright/The Danger Ensemble from Brisbane, Australia. After the performance there will be a party in the reception room with a performance by Luminescent Orchestrii featuring Sxip Shirey.

They probably won't invite me back until I'm in my late 60s, so don't miss it.

love, A

My Grandpa would have loved this, but he has sadly passed away. In 1985, I think. I vaguely recall news of his death, and a subsequent trip to the funeral director's, interrupted a special performance of Fire and Ice by Torvill and Dean. He did love the Boston Pops though.

Hola Comrades!!!

I send you greetings&salutations from the land of silence.
After undergoing very successful vocal cord surgery, I've been mute for two solid weeks now and my apartment is very very clean.

If you want to read up about these exciting adventures, I've been a blogging fiend lately, check it at http://dresdendollsdiary.blogspot.com or www.myspace.com/whokilledamandapalmer.

I am blown away by the growing number of intelligent people discussing the nature of the universe (and the evil of UGG boots) with me. come join us.

Brian and I have been cranking WICKED hardcore to ready a collection of photos for THE NEW SONGBOOK, which will hopefully be released at the same time as our forthcoming record, "No, Virginia". The book will include piano/vocal/guitar notation for ALL of "Yes, Virginia" and "No, Virginia", plus the requisite treasure trove of weird shit, stories, alternate lyrics, photos, and more flotsam and jetsam than you can shake a stick at.

love, amanda

PARTY IN THE WOODS WITH POST-WAR TRADE
Post-War Trade, the democratic future of band merchandizing wants YOU (insert creepy Amanda-as-Uncle-Sam graphic here) to join our team for the Rothbury Music Festival!

PWT will have a bizzaro-crafts table at the festival promoting our venture and we need smart, crafty, outgoing people to staff it. You need to be ready to sew, cut, paste and glue-gun. In exchange for your help, you'll get into rothbury as the Dolls' guest and you'll have a behind-the-scenes style experience. What that will entail, we're not sure yet, but you can bet it will be fucking SWEET. Free fest tix + art in the woods with the freaks, who could ask for more?

Here's what we're looking for in volunteerz:
Responsible, reliable, freaky fan folks super crafty & good with their hands, knowing how to SEW a huge plus... Outgoing and charming peeps eager to convert the unwashed, possibly tripping masses to the joy of PWT and PUNK CABARET. If that's YOU (and we hope it's you) email PWT's mistress of artist outreach, Beth, at beth@dresdendolls.com why you and your awesomeresponsiblecraftycharming self would rock our world at Rothbury.

Amanda's been teasing out her solo debut for a long time now. The bits and pieces we've gleaned include the sessions' location (Nashville), producer (Ben Folds), and prospects for having at least one great song (very high, thanks to hearing at least one great song). The studio version of "Astronaut" brings strings and a subtle dance beat through the second verse and just as much DRAMA, which the video illustrates with exploding spaceships and Amanda's crazy eyebrows.

Who Killed Amanda Palmer is out 9/16 via Roadrunner. You can keep track of all that's going on at myspace.com/whokilledamandapalmer, where you can download a bunch of live tunes.
