| | | so i just bought some cd's and am arrogant enough to figure the news is new thread worthy.
i got:
U2, the best of 1990-2000 (all for "electrical storm" and i'm curious about this new mix of discotheque. nothing too drastic i hope, as i like the original.)
springsteen, magic (i've just noticed the offspring producer credited on the back, so now i kind of regret it. although i'd heard the production was bad anyway and bought it regardless. just didn't know who was responsible).
springsteen, nebraska (because it was cheap and i've always wanted to find out exactly how sparse it is. the word sparse is included in everything i've ever read about this album.
these all came from wal-mart. nothing i've been dying to hear but i hate to leave a store without having bought something.
i also wanted to give the cashier the impression i'm a real joe average, so going with U2 & springsteen was kind of performance art. as if to suggest i'm trying a little too hard to be normal and am probably a serial killer. i don't think she got it.

| | | I grabbed a copy of Nebraska a couple of years ago for about 50 cents, for the exact same reason as Cletus. [Cleetus?] As my record player is bung, I still haven't got around to listening to it. I like to imagine it will be sparse. Or maybe stark.

i'm going soft in the head. in that other thread i gave alan alda credit for reaming out some little bitch, when the reaming was actually the work of alan arkin. now this. |

You're just full of excuses and blaming others for why you suck, aren't you?

Wiki gives it "sparse" before "stark", which is merely describing the cover. There was a "raw, haunted folk essence present". The word "bleak" is used, but only when describing the music video to Atlantic City [note: not Asbury Park, NJ]. "Bleakness" follows.
I guess reviews of some albums really do write themselves, and Nebraska more so than most.
