Sad truth is, most people couldn't name a Hole song, or if they can they'd struggle after Celebrity Skin and Doll Parts. So not really enough actual fame for her music to merit a place in the hall of fame I guess.

Madonna may not be able to sing, but she's got the business acumen to have stayed in the public eye this long so that's half the battle already. Plus she's had the occasional killer song, and her voice may be no good but it's also not terrible.

Yeah, but Joe Pubic probably couldn't name a Velvet Underground song either. If they ventured "Take a walk on the wild side", they'd get the kick in the cunt they deserved. Ditto The Grateful Dead, apart from that shit one that got in the charts - whose name I can't remember. I mean, loads of people know them more for their lifestyle than their music, and so Courtney would be a good match!
