"Quality" on its own doesn't imply good or bad. "Most quality music" doesn't really mean "most good music". Truly anal people attach a qualifier, as in "high quality" or "low quality", or "middling quality".

We aren't rugby commentators, people. "Quality ball to the backline".

is it only American to say something's 'quality' when they mean good quality? it's kind of besides the point of the thread, but you say you are a teacher, so i should probably mind you.

No, it's universal, it's just lazy and not technically correct. Naturally, you tend to get away with it outside of formal writing. But you shouldn't. :anal:
