smart fans with dumb fans

errr sorry, that should read "smart bands with dumb fans"

like that nirvana "in bloom" thing. but i don't care what he says, i still think nirvana was too wussy for most thuggy date rapists & too uncouth for their slicker counterpart. i love that the creep in clueless was into the cranberries. that was very astute.

the most scared i've ever been in my sex exploits (excluding fear of disease, i'm referring to fear of being drugged/raped/hacked up) was in a car with this married guy, looking for a parking lot to fuck in, a really quiet guy, listening to a soft rock station and he starts humming along to a sarah mclachlan song.
this feeling came over me that he would still be humming while disposing of my body. anyway, we still fucked and everything was fine.
i was really naive at the time, like probably one of the first times i was with a guy because i remember asking "am i going too fast?" HAHAHAHAHAHA. we're in the fucking home depot parking lot, he just wants to blow his wad in a guy's ass before going home to his wife & i'm playing it as the deflowering of some bitch on dawson's creek. i'm such a fucking loser.
also, i told him i'd never had sex before which was a lie. so afterwards he goes "well you're not a virgin anymore" and winks.

anyway, i think rage against the machine is the ultimate band for thuggish date rapists.
luckily their politics are pretty bullshit anyway, because it's not like anybody is actually listening to their message.

black flag is another one. smart guys who played to a bunch of retards.

is system of a down respectable?

then there are bands that think they're smart, but aren't. i imagine the average green day fan is smarter than the average member of green day.
same with bad religion. same with pearl jam.

i was at a patti smith show, and the crowd cheered to whatever hippy, bullshit she ran her mouth about.
she lectured us to stand up and pressure the government to get out of iraq. only it's canada and we're not in iraq.

i imagine r.e.m. attracts a lot of smart people. not just blathering academic wastes, but architects and great mechanics who are also really good at jeopardy.
r.e.m. is a smart band. peter is a genius. mike is like the dad in fifties sitcoms before tv fathers started being portrayed as jackasses.
and even stipe comes across way less flaky than you might imagine. maybe it's a south thing.

Have to agree with Black Flag, some of their fans who i've had brushes with are straight up shit. Most are not too familar with most of their back catalogue other than "TV Party," as well...

Pavement fans in the 1990s were pretty bad on occasion as well, I remember getting in arguments with quite a few over some minute shit. I remember one fan literally yelling at me because she didn't agree with my choice of "In the Mouth a Desert" being one of their best songs. I mean, she became VERY upset. I think I told her something to the effect of: SHUT THE FUCK UP, NO ONE CARES THAT MUCH

tori amos - just a little
they're so fuckin annoying and they always correct you about the meaning of her songs which is kind of stupid because her songs are lyrically impossible and they defend beekeeper, an album that suhuuucks.

oh wait, smart bands. have no idea if tori is smart or just.. crazy.
