Moby Looks Forward To 'Last Night'

Story by: Emily Youssef
Moby has announced the March 11 release of his latest effort, Last Night, via his new US home at Mute Records. An eclectic collection of several moods—from Giorgio Moroder-inspired disco tracks to hip-hop and downtempo—his eighth album is based around a full evening out in New York that culminates with a watch-the-sun-come-up arrival home. It features a special appearance from Grandmaster Caz, the ghostwriter behind many of the rhymes on the Sugarhill Gang's 1979 mega-hit "Rapper's Delight," as well as performances from Kudu's Sylvia Gordon, MC Aynzli and the 419 Crew. His first full-length since 2005's Hotel, Last Night is the latest in a career that has spanned more than 15 years.

That sounds like it could be good.

OK, I'm way out of it, but have never heard of "Hotel". Anyone have it? What's it like?

I don't have "Hotel" either! I used to be a massive Moby fan in the 1990s though, I even saw him live a few times. I wonder if the new one will be a return to the Detroit sound I like...

I really liked the albums that I have of his (animal rights, play, and 18), but I never bothered getting any of his earlier stuff, and I too never even heard of hotel. Maybe it's about time to get back into moby!
