Emo

Don't stone me: I'm only being honest

I don't understand the whole 'emo'-thing.

As far as I can gather, it's err sad, self-pitying, self-indulgent music. Doesn't that mean, like, loads of quality bands are 'emo'? Aren't The Smiths, Joy Division, etc, emo..?

I second...wait no, third that ^^

cause the way I understood it the only difference between emo and the rest of the world is that they dress only black and have bad dye jobs.
but I'm more than willing to admit that I'm far behind and have no idea what emo really is...

Yeah, it's supposedly "emotionally-driven rock." But isn't all decent rock emotionally driven? There is some that's pointless but anything I like listening to is about feelings anyways.

I think, to add to the fashion bit, it also requires for 30 year old men to word their lyrics so that it sounds like they're still in high school.

I always thought that all lyrics were emotional. Well... most of them.

So it doesn't really make any sense, cuz that would mean all songs are 'emo'.
