Alternative party music:

Not alternative as in :goth:, alternative as in stuff that is good party music but which you don't often hear. I'm thinking a party needs to happen soon and I want a soundtrack.

So far I have "Odelay" or "Midnite Vultures" (I like it, okay?), "Thunder Lightning Crash" or whatever it's called by The Go! Team, and "Night Ripper" by Girl Talk, which may be the best party album ever.

Suggestions?

I like Midnite Vultures too, and it certainly went down well at parties in our flat in about 1999. Reputation means nothing.
Admittedly, Yoko Ono went down pretty well too once we were all trashed and you could put pretty much anything on. Milli Vanilli on a slightly overspeed cassette player wasn't a total dead loss.

If people are trying to out-extreme you, chuck on some Diamanda Galas. And fucking dance to it, and pretend you're having fun even if you're not.

Weezer is a bit obvious, but ideal for parties. Especially in 1996.

Much though I've tried, I just can't find anything to like about Diamanda Galas. But nah, if I want to have an "out-extreme-ing" session, I can do that easy. I have Michael Chion, innit. I'm talking stuff that chicks broadly speaking aren't going to complain about, and if they do, at least half of the room is going to think they're being a dick for it. So not Daughters, basically.

When everyone's got to the point of passing-out it's nice to have lamb on. I don't own any, it was just always left on play at a friends when I was laying there stoned out of my skull and everyone had collapsed. It's soothing.
