| K Records News Saturday Looks Good to Me!
Ypsilanti, Mi. is the point of origin for Saturday Looks Good to Me; they have since toured the U.S. and the world, but Ypsilanti will always be "home". We here at K are happy to be the point of origin for the new Saturday Looks Good to Me album, Fill Up the Room [KLP182], due out in store across the land next Tuesday. The good news is that the K Mail Order Dept. has it available now, today, immediately! It is on both LP and CD, and all new K albums are available in MP3 format for only $6.99! Saturday Looks Good to Me are in New York City this week to play a few shows and then will head out for a U.S. tour next week. For a complete list of their shows, visit the Shows page.
Old Time Relijun! and new Recordings by Arrington de Dionyso
The new Old Time Relijun album Catharsis in Chrisis [KLP184] has been on the streets for a couple weeks now, but the combo themselves have not just been lollygaging about, patting themselves on the back over having recorded such a masterpiece. They are out there in the world, playing up a storm. Tonight they play Halifax, Nova Scotia; tomorrow it is Williamsburg, N.Y. A complete list of their shows are available at the Shows page. The K Mail Order Dept. has acquired copies of an unusual new album that lead warbler Arrington de Dionyso recorded recently with Nusch Werchowka in Rennes, France called Trucs de Psichomagie. Arrington sings and plays bass clarinet. These recordings are one side of an LP: the other side is filled by the recordings of Rozasia from Toronto, Ont., titled Relax Like a Man. Get it while you can!
The Blow! New 45
Everyone loves The Blow! Why, just the other day David Byrne wrote about how much he enjoyed seeing The Blow at her N.Y. show (you can read his journal here, scroll down to the Oct. 5 entry). The fine folks at Tomlab in Germany have released a 45 of the song "Parentheses" from the Paper Television [KLP178] album. It includes two remixes, one by DAT Politics and one by Rory Phillips, plus the previously unreleased song "Get Around", all on a 7" 45 rpm record! Of course, it is available from the kind folks at the K Mail Order Dept.
Modest Mouse Vinyl Is Here!
The K Mail Order Dept. has received many requests in the last few months for Modest Mouse on vinyl. Well, such requests have not fallen on deaf ears. Today a big shipment of Sad Sappy Sucker LPs arrived and are available now! Dunt know how long they will last...
New Albums You Will want to Hear!
Softboiled Eggies Egg Soldiers LP (Tiny Creatures) From Los Angeles, Ca. come the Softboiled Eggies. By day and night they operate organizations like the Tiny Creatures gallery and Part Time Punks disco; by night and day they create the Softboiled Eggies musical concoctions. This album is a record of such magical potions.
Lipa Kodi Ya City Council LP (Mississippi Records)
Another compilation of obscure pop, highlife, juju and choral music recorded throughout Africa between 1967 and 1972.
